Tom and Marilyn Neis founded the Neis Insurance Agency in 1980. As Principle, Tom utilized his formal education and experience in the insurance field to establish a successful agency that continues to thrive a decade later with sales exceeding 14 million in 2004.

Tom graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1966 and from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1971 with a BS in Insurance and Liberal Arts. From 1971 -1980 Tom worked for the Illinois Department of Insurance and North American Company for Life and Health.

Married to Marilyn Thies, also a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan, for 31 years, they currently reside in Bull Valley with their two Labradors Abigail and Henrietta, who are also greeters at the office. Tom and Marilyn also have two well accomplished daughters, Elizabeth and Melissa, who are 2002 graduates from Millikin University and Illinois Wesleyan University respectively. Both daughters have since ventured out on their own pursuing successful careers in the arts.

As a profoundly involved member of the community for over 30 years, Tom helped establish the McHenry County Foundation and The Sister City Program in Crystal Lake. He also serves on the Board Directors for Wintrust Bank and Crystal Lake Bank and Trust. Serving their almamater, Tom and Marilyn are the directors of the Chicago Alumni Association & the Directors of the National Alumni Association for IWU. He is also a PIIAI Member and an ARM Member.

As a result of Tom’s dedication to the Insurance field and to the community, he has received many honors including the Roy C. Clark National Award for College Man of the Year, 1992 Crystal Lake Chamber Member of the Year, 2002 PIIAI Outstanding Service Member of the Year, the Blue Cross Leaders Award, Economy E. Club Award, Erie HO Hirt Award and Kemper Gold Key Award. One of Tom and his family's most recognized honor is the IWU soccer field that bears the name and is dedicated to the Neis/Thies Families. This done after the Neis’ made a generous donation to the school for the construction of the field.

When Tom has time he enjoys staying physically active playing tennis and golf. Traveling the globe is also one of Tom and Marilyn's favorite past times; some of his past destinations include Ireland, England, Germany and Scotland. On his recent trip to Scotland, Tom made a hole in one on the 16th hole at the famous Carnoustie Golf Course.

Tom looks forward to the continued growth of the agency and hopes, in the next 10 years, to exceed the goals he has set for the agency.

Linda started in the insurance business in 1997 by specializing in mortgage banker/broker coverage. In 1999 she completed the Mortgage Banker Association school for mortgage bankers.

She has owned video stores in Crystal Lake and Huntley and has an extensive business management background. A lifelong resident of McHenry County, she enjoys spending her free time raising her three children and working with community services.

Chris Christensen

Chris came to Neis Insurance agency after getting a few years experience with another insurance carrier.

Chris Christensen grew up in McHenry where he graduated from McHenry High School - East Campus. Just after high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. Chris served 3 years active duty, most of which was spent overseas in Korea and Bosnia. Chris was awarded two overseas Service Ribbons, National Defense Service Medal, Two Army achievement medals and an Armed Forces service medal. Chris received a Bachelors of Science degree in Political Science and Communications from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Chris is extremely active in the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce and The Precision Lawn Chair Dads. Chris is married to his wife of three years Renee, has one daughter Samantha and a dog Patches.

Chris's personal insurance philosophy is to provide his clients with a level of knowledge, expertise, and service no matter the size or number of policies his clients have trusted with Neis Insurance.

Lorraine Raven

Lorraine is a life long resident of McHenry County. Not long after she became a graduate of the McHenry School District she decided to pursue a career in the Insurance Industry. Now after over 22 years in the field she still loves it.

As a proud equestrian she spends much of her free time as an active member in the Bull Valley Riding Club and 4-H Club. She also travels to Horse Shows showing her beautiful horses Austin & Dancer. When she isn’t with her horses, she is with her finance Ray, twin boys Joseph & Justin & daughter Janelle.

She plans on bringing to the agency her many years of knowledge in the insurance business and her much admired level of customer care. She looks forward to servicing you, your family and your business in the future.

When they aren’t working hard for their dad, both enjoy swimming, playing fetch and napping.
